August 2026 Newsletter

What supplements will change your game, how we're treating our cattle, and you can invite a friend.

Jon and the boys out at the annual memorial tournament

I thought I'd wait until the kids got back to school before sharing my thoughts for the month. Then, like most of you, I blinked, and August was almost over, so here I am on the last day of the month.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of taking Hank up to Chicago to take part in the annual memorial tournament to honor my brother from another mother, Mike D., who passed away 5 years ago. Words can't express how great it was for the boys to be knuckleheads together — as well as the pain of knowing what he's missing out on.

What you're likely missing out on (harsh segue) is some money if you've read my health recommendations in the past. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Today, my objective is to save you money and not recommend the latest supplement or gadget that is going to change your life. (That said, a couple of recommendations are still below — I can't help myself :)

When implemented, these arguably make a far greater impact than any supplement ever could. Simple does not always = easy.

  • Finish eating 3 hours before bed
  • Drink a gallon of water (ish) per day
  • Exercise (in some way) every day — you brush your teeth daily, don't you? Here are some great bodyweight workouts
  • Cut alcohol (no one ever regrets this). Ask someone who has.
  • Eat 10% of your body weight in oz of protein per day (I weigh 190 = 19 oz of protein daily is my minimum)
  • There is an inverse relationship between screen time and happiness. Note it. Apply it.

Note: all these hacks presume you want to feel and look your best.

Happy to help however we can! See you often!

Jon

Some Things I'm Stoked About

  • Podcasts about kids (kind of our world right now) — 1) Parents, this is very worth your listening. The effects interactive screens have on our kids' brains are dramatic(ly bad). And 2) a podcast on boys and ADHD is a must-listen if you have boys. Thanks, Sarah S.!
  • Red light for reading at night — Read at night? Me too. This is a game changer, both for me and the boys.
  • The Almanack of Naval Ravikant — I love the way this guy thinks. So much great insight into living well and not just getting lucky.
  • A bidet — Last month I talked about fiber (please take the Momentous fiber we carry). Not using one? You're a cave person and need to see the light. Thank you, Britni, for showing us the light!
  • The ruck plate we use — Going for a walk? Carry something. 10 out of 10 recommend.

What We're Doing With the Cattle

Exciting stuff happening with the herd at the farm — grazing for the best meat in the world.

More Than Food

One of our deepest secrets is that only a small % of your results come from the gym. Aka abs are made in the kitchen, and this month Kelly shares some insight on how to help improve those habits with a four-week course that starts September 16th.

Bring a Friend on Saturday

Do you have a friend you've been trying to get in here with you? Saturday is your day to have them for a free class. Just fill out this form, and we'll get them set up!

Sunday Is Family Day + Ruck Day

Make time for the people who matter while getting your steps in. Grab a ruck plate carrier and turn Sunday into a day of family, movement, and quality time together.

To be clear — we're closing the gym on Sundays to give our entire team a break so we're ready to crush the week with you.
