October 2024 Newsletter

I made a quick trip up to Chicago this weekend to visit with some dear family friends. (Much longer story than that on why I was there).

This may come as a shock, but I’m the guy who enjoys talking the ear off Uber drivers. My driver this weekend from the airport recently moved here from Mongolia, living on the north eastern border with Russia.

He spoke both Russian and Mongolian as he went to school for a stint in Russia and lived in Mongolia. He ran a rather larger trash disposal business (120 employees) but was forced to leave with 24 hours notice as his life was being threatened if he didn’t pay a bribe to keep his contract.

Anyway, he’s been in America for 16 months and now he and his wife had their first child after trying for 15 years with no luck (too much stress he said). After our 30 minute ride I thanked him for being here, working hard and wished him luck with raising his young son.

He said “America is the greatest country. Everyone here is so happy and I feel so safe.” This coming from a guy who didn’t speak english when he got here and showed up with the clothes on his back.

The media wants us to think it's a crazy world out there (and it might be...) but please look around every once in a while, amazing things (people) happen everyday - all we have to do is notice it. Thanks Arkhip! (his name)

Have a great fall and spread those good vibes!

Our goal with this is simply to encourage more of you to get in here, try some new things and gain some momentum going in to the holidays. And of course bragging rights for the coaches!!

That’s literally our goal at the end of the day. Help people move, eat clean, and live well so you can take on anything that comes your way.

These people are crushing it. Congrats on hitting 18 classes last month!! I need to get my name on that list!! :)

Bobby and Jamey having joined coaching staff part-time. Please welcome them both when you see them (they'll likely look familiar as they've both been around while!)

HSA Reminder for 2025 - if you missed out in 2024, please make sure you fund your HSA accordingly as you can pay for your training here at 2020FIT using tax deferred dollars which could save you a bunch of money! All you need to do is go here, pay the $30 to get a 'letter of medical necessity' and you can pay with your HSA. BAM.

These mean a lot, not only to us but to those looking to make a decision about what fitness community they're looking to join. If you have something positive to share, please use it to encourage others. Thank you!!

Here are Kelly's thoughts for the rest of the year which I LOVE

Pause or Go?

As we enter the last three months of the year, many will press Pause on pursuing health and wellness goals...but consider this:

There are 90 days left in the year.

3 meals a day + 270 meals.

270 opportunities to GO!

Have some staple ingredients and quick recipes on hand, like this one!

A Couple Little Resources:

Something Funny

A little video about diet fads - I found this quite funny as I've tried nearly everything by now.

Important for Parents

Do you have kids in the SMSD? Do you think phones are a distraction to learning? Please sign this petition if so.

Some books:

Make this a Focused Fall with this great self help book for the doers out there. Deep Work hit home for me and is helping me with my chronic distractedness.

"The Lion Tracker's Guide to Life" was shared with me recently (very quick read). Here’s the quote that has stuck with me “I don’t know where I’m going, but I know how to get there.” It’s all about focusing on the process and not the end results through the lens of someone who tracks lions for a living.

Nice Little Feature

One of our amazing clients (Scott) is a pastor and recently interviewed me for thoughts on risk taking to share with his team. However, he grabbed a snippet of our conversation and used it in his sermon. Pretty humbling to be up on the big screen! (23:00 mark)
