What's Going Down at the Farm

After going silent, I'm providing an update on the farm because "the business model completely changed, as can happen, from the initial game plan on day 1."

Initial challenges required practical solutions: "to get the farm to a place where we could enjoy it, while our kids are still young enough to WANT to go out there, we had to at least have a working toilet for the Ms. Britni and the ladies."

Eighteen months prior, the operation shifted toward a membership model. We "pivoted to creating a membership-based farm where families are able to buy in for a fraction of what an entire farm would cost."

Members gain access for recreational activities including go-karts, fishing, weekend stays, and hunting without maintenance responsibilities.

The Cattle

It's been a dream of mine since moving to Kansas (heck before that even) to have our own herd of cattle to help build the soil and provide some delicious and healthy meat.

I'm of the mindset that we should know where our food comes from and this is happening now right before our eyes. Grass-fed regenerative cattle require 24 months maturation, pursued alongside partners the Panos.

The Kids

Activities focus on children's engagement -- building birdhouses, riding mini bikes, exploring woods, and completing chores. Brit and I notice every time how well the boys get along with each other when they're at the farm.

Recent Projects

  • Full farmhouse renovation (100+ years old)
  • Road construction
  • Cattle preparation
  • Bunkhouse building
  • Garden establishment

Recreation

Recreation balances work with bonfire building, woodland hikes, and firearm safety instruction, fostering "skills that will benefit them the rest of their lives."
